Inpatient claims
In addition to the peace of mind that you will receive from making sure that the treatment is covered by your international health insurance policy, by notifying your insurer in advance they may be able to arrange direct billing with the hospital. This way you will be certain of avoiding payment of the treatment out-of-pocket, then filing a claim seeking reimbursement. Coverage of the scheduled treatment will also be assured by informing the insurance company prior to admission to the hospital.
In an emergency situation where you are unable to contact your insurance company before receiving treatment, you will still be provided with the coverage that you need, provided that the treatment is an eligible expense. If you are involved in an emergency situation where inpatient treatment is required, you should contact your insurance company as soon as possible after admittance.
When you receive inpatient treatment you should retain copies of all doctor notes and hospitals receipts along with any completed claims forms that you may have submitted.
