Chronic Conditions
A chronic condition is an illness or injury which has no known cure and of which the only viable treatment is symptom management. Chronic conditions include ailments such as: asthma, heart disease, arthritis, or diabetes.
Since chronic conditions will persist for the rest of your life, it is essential to obtain health insurance coverage before the condition develops. Young people often do not recognize the need for chronic condition coverage as they often see chronic conditions as a concern for later in life. We are all at risk of developing some sort of chronic condition over the course of our lifetimes. It is important to have chronic condition coverage before symptoms appear.
Many international health insurance plans will provide coverage for chronic conditions; however, it is important obtain coverage before symptoms of a chronic condition arise. Once symptoms appear, the condition will then qualify as a pre-existing condition at the time of application for international health insurance. International health insurance plans will typically exclude pre-existing conditions from coverage, except in rare circumstances.
International health insurance plans frequently offer high limits of cover for chronic conditions on both a per-year and lifetime basis. Some plans limit coverage to treatment of acute phases of a chronic condition only.
