  • Overall Maximum Benefit

International health insurance plans will afford you with extremely high levels of coverage. An overall maximum benefit is the coverage limit associated with an international health insurance plan. A plan's overall maximum benefit will usually take one of three forms; per-condition, annual, or lifetime.

    Per condition

A per condition limit is the maximum amount that can be claimed on the treatment of any one (1) condition. The per condition limits associated with global health insurance plans are generally very high and will provide you adequate coverage for your treatment.

    Annual

An annual limit is the maximum amount that a policyholder can claim in treatment over the course of the policy year. An annual overall maximum benefit will typically be in the range of US$ 1 - 2 million and will afford you with the peace of mind that should anything happen you will have the protection that you need. An annual overall maximum benefit will restart each year.

If you do not travel to the USA or, are not planning to relocate there on a permanent basis, then choosing a plan that excludes elective coverage there may be a suitable option.

    Lifetime

If a plan has a lifetime overall maximum benefit it will have a predetermined coverage limit for the entire currency of the plan. Lifetime limits are usually very high (US$ 5 million or more) and will provide you with comprehensive cover for as long as you are on the policy. It is important to note that the lifetime overall maximum benefit will not renew and will always stay the same.

When you are evaluating different international medical insurance plans you should make sure that you understand the different limits that may be associated with a policy.
