FIA World Rallycross Championship
Although Hong Kong does not have a fixed racetrack, Formula-E electric formula races have been held on the Central waterfront in the past. The World Track Autocross Championship will also be built on the Central waterfront, with the dates being November 11 and 12, 2023. The World Track Autocross Championship is a competition under the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The first race was held in Portugal in June this year. After Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and South Africa, Hong Kong will be the last stop of this season's competition. At that time, Hong Kong audiences will witness the birth of this season's champion.
Selling point
The track is a mixture of asphalt and gravel roads, passing through busy sections such as Lung Wo Road and Man Yiu Street. Some sections are equipped with ramps. The total length is about 1.2 kilometers. The competition format is to hold about 20 events every day, and each event will have 5 drivers driving electric vehicles with a horsepower of up to 680. The vehicle only takes 1.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, which is faster than F1 cars. It is indeed a different experience to watch the dusty off-road vehicle competition in the city with tall buildings.
Admission information
The event will start at 8 am. There are undesignated seating areas and free standing areas on site, which can accommodate a total of 8,000 spectators. Tickets are on sale at ticketflap. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between MPVs and SUVs?
SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) are designed for sport and utility, combining the comfort and space of a station wagon with off-road capabilities. They typically have a spacious design with a higher chassis and four-wheel drive systems to handle rugged terrain.
MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicles), on the other hand, are designed for versatility, featuring a taller roof, boxy shape, and longer body, usually seating seven with ample boot space. They emphasize space and passenger capacity rather than off-road performance, often equipped with electric sliding doors for easy entry and exit.
