24-hour customs clearance, all-day Hong Kong-Shenzhen round trip
The new Huanggang Port retains 24-hour service, allowing those who need it to travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen around the clock. In addition, the new port has 134 self-service channels and 68 manual counters. This helps shorten queuing time.
Adopting the co-location arrangement, clearance can be completed in 5 minutes.
In addition to adding channels, the new port also implements a brand-new "one zone, two parks” under the new "self-service" model. Hong Kong residents will not need to queue in sections when clearing customs. They will only need to queue once when using the self-service channel, scan their Home Return Permit or undergo facial recognition, and then have their fingerprints verified before they can pass through customs. After eliminating the queuing and inspection between the two places, it is expected that the customs clearance time can be significantly reduced from 30 minutes to about 5 minutes.
Passengers traveling on the train can pass through a dedicated immigration station directly.
The new Huanggang Port has implemented a pedestrian-vehicle separation arrangement, allowing cross-border buses and private cars to cross the border at the dedicated immigration and customs clearance hall. Passengers will no longer need to disembark at the port and proceed to the general passenger hall to complete immigration procedures. The simplified procedure is expected to effectively shorten waiting time.
Connecting 5 major subway lines
Currently, after arriving in Shenzhen via Huanggang Port, passengers can take Metro Line 7 to popular areas such as Futian and Nanshan districts. However, after the new Huanggang Port is completed, there are also plans to connect with five other lines, including the MTR Northern Link branch. This will make it convenient for residents to travel north and south.
The plan is to connect the main line of the Northern Link to Kam Sheung Road Station on the Tuen Ma Line, pass through Au Tau Station, Ngau Tam Mei Station, and San Tin Station, before establishing a spur line to Kwu Tung Station. Kwu Tung Station will then connect to the Lok Ma Chau branch line of the East Rail Line, going directly to the main line from San Tin Station to the newly established Chau Tau Station and The Loop Station, and finally arriving at the terminus, Huanggang Port Station.
The "Yellow Bus" route has been cancelled, and four new franchised bus routes have been established.
Under the current "two-place, two-inspection" framework, passengers traveling to Huanggang Port must transfer to the "Yellow Bus" as a connecting mode of transport. However, the new Huanggang Port will implement a "one-place, two-inspection" policy, allowing Hong Kong public transport to directly reach the public transport interchange within the joint inspection building. Therefore, the Transport Department recommends cancelling the "Yellow Bus" service. Four franchised bus routes will be used to meet the cross-border passenger demand after the opening of the new Huanggang Port.
1. Huanggang Port — Kwai Tsui Estate Public Transport Interchange
It offers 24-hour service daily; the route passes through Kwai Fong, Tsing Yi and the Tai Lam Tunnel interchange area.
2. Huanggang Port — Kai Tak (Olympic Avenue) via Central Kowloon Trunk Line
Initially, the service will only be available during peak morning and afternoon hours (service may be extended to the early morning when events are held in Kai Tak, or services may be provided in accordance with the end time of the relevant events); the route passes through Kai Tak (including Kai Tak Sports Park) and the Tai Lam Tunnel interchange area.
3. Huanggang Port — Wu Kai Sha Station Public Transport Interchange
Daily service available all day; the route passes through Ma On Shan, Science Park, Kwong Fuk Estate interchange, Kwu Tung North New Development Area, and San Tin Public Transport Interchange.
4. Huanggang Port — Castle Peak Bay Bus Terminal
It offers 24-hour service on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; the route passes through Tuen Mun town centre and Hung Shui Kiu area.
There are currently 3 extended bus routes and special services.
In addition to franchised bus routes, the Transport Department also proposed relocating three existing bus routes with stops at the San Tin Public Transport Interchange. Franchised bus routes will be extended to the new Huanggang Port or special services will be provided.

- Extend the main station to the new Huanggang Port

- The terminal will be extended to the new Huanggang Port to facilitate late-night travel.
There are currently 6 green minibus routes arranged.
