【Australia Travel】Australia Electronic Travel Visa ETA Application Tutorial｜Validity Period and Fees｜Notes

According to Australian government regulations, an Australia Electronic Travel Authority ETA (subclass 601) is required for tourism travel to Australia. As long as you hold a passport from the nationalities designated by the Australian Immigration Department, including Hong Kong SAR Passport and BNO, you can apply for the Australia ETA via the dedicated mobile application. Note that subclass 601 visas are for tourism only and do not permit work in Australia.

• Mobile phone with NFC, location, and camera functions

Step 1: Download the "AustralianETA" mobile app (iOS) (Android)

Step 2: After installation, open the app and agree to the terms

Step 3: Set a password and choose whether to enable biometric authentication

Step 4: Indicate if you are a travel agent

Step 5: New applicants select "New ETA" and agree to the terms

Step 6: Use your phone to photograph the personal data page of your passport

Step 7: Scan the passport chip with NFC

Step 8: Confirm personal information

Step 9: Take a personal portrait photo

Step 10: If the applicant has other passports

Step 11: Enter other personal details such as nationality, residential address at departure, and phone number

Step 12: Enter your email address and click "Verify email"

Step 13: Enter the 6-digit verification code received via email

Step 14: After successful verification, confirm personal information again

Step 15: Choose visa application type (business or tourism)

Step 16: Declare any criminal or violence records

Step 17: Enter Australian residential address and confirm information accuracy

Step 18: Choose payment method for application fee

Step 19: Submit the application officially; approval results will be sent to the registered email within 12 hours

• Currently, the Australia Electronic Travel Authority ETA (subclass 601) can only be applied for via the designated mobile application; no other application channels are available.

• The Australia ETA (subclass 601) is valid for one year and cannot be extended.

• The Australia ETA is linked to a valid passport; if the passport expires, the visa will also become invalid and must be reapplied for.

• The ETA application must be made outside Australia.

• All family members planning to travel to Australia (including infants) must apply for their own Australia ETA.

• Check your spam folder as the approval email may be stored there.
