The Zeekr X has been in Hong Kong for nearly two years, but its futuristic exterior remains highly attractive to this day. As an urban SUV, the Zeekr X has a body length of only 4,432mm, which is not only suitable for novice drivers but also perfectly fits Hong Kong's road environment, making driving easy and flexible.

In terms of power specifications, the Hong Kong version mainly offers a Rear-Wheel Drive version and a Platinum All-Wheel Drive version, both equipped with a 66 kWh battery. The temperature can be adjusted to as low as -15°C, making it perfect for Hong Kong's hot summers.

The Zeekr 7X is available in three versions: two single-motor rear-wheel drive models (Basic and Plus) and one dual-motor all-wheel drive model (Platinum). The entire lineup is built on Geely’s 800V high-voltage platform, supporting up to 450kW ultra-fast charging, which takes only 10.5 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. The Basic version uses a 75kWh battery with a WLTP range of 480km. The Plus and Platinum versions are upgraded to a 100kWh battery, with ranges reaching 615km and 543km respectively, significantly reducing range anxiety for users.

In terms of performance, the Basic version outputs 310 kW of power and 440 Nm of torque, while the Platinum delivers 475 kW and 710 Nm, achieving 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Beyond providing a responsive driving experience, the Platinum version exclusively features the "Magic Carpet" air suspension and CCD electromagnetic dampers. In addition to adjusting the ride height by 70mm, it ensures comfort during high-speed cruising. The rear seats offer 1,187mm of legroom and 1,021mm of headroom, with a maximum trunk capacity of 2,000 liters.

The Hong Kong version of the Zeekr 009 is available in three versions: two 7-seaters (Deluxe and Premium) and one 6-seater (Platinum). It utilizes a 400V Silicon Carbide (SiC) electric drive platform paired with a 116 kWh battery. Both the Premium and Platinum versions feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout, delivering a maximum output of 450 kW and 693 Nm of torque. Despite weighing nearly 3 tons, its ample power allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with a range of 582 km and support for up to 205 kW DC fast charging.

With a body length of 5.2 meters, the interior space is exceptionally spacious. The mid-row power-adjustable executive seats come built-in with ventilation and massage functions, and can transform into a "zero-gravity" reclining position with a single touch. The door panels also feature touch control screens for displaying the clock or adjusting the air conditioning. Other amenities include dual-chamber air suspension with active damping, a 15-inch OLED central console screen, a 17-inch ceiling-mounted OLED screen for rear passengers, and a refrigerator, creating a comfortable and stable riding experience.

Zeekr 009: A Mobile Luxury Business Class

Positioned as a top-tier luxury MPV, the Zeekr 009’s cabin is designed like a first-class aircraft cabin. Equipped with Sofaro aviation seats, a 17-inch ceiling-mounted screen, and a 30-speaker Yamaha audio system, it is available in 6-seater or 7-seater versions. 800V High-Voltage Platform Technology

Both the Zeekr 7X and 009 utilize an 800V high-voltage system, which significantly enhances charging efficiency. 8155 / 8295 Chips

The 8155 chip, built on a 7nm process, is used in the Zeekr X to support multi-screen linkage and voice recognition, providing an operation experience comparable to a smartphone for navigation, media streaming, and 360-degree imaging. The higher-tier 8295 chip, a 5nm process chip, is used in the 7X and 009 (dual 8295). Its CPU and GPU computing power are increased by approximately 2 and 3 times, respectively. Its AI computing power reaches 30 TOPS—7.5 times that of the 8155—greatly enhancing intelligent driving detection and multitasking capabilities.

AI Mate Intelligent Assistant

AI Mate is the core application of the Zeekr cockpit. Beyond integrating the EVA voice assistant, it possesses "proactive perception" and "deep learning" abilities. Proactive perception uses internal and external sensors to sense the environment and passenger status in real-time. For example, when it detects a user approaching the vehicle, it automatically assesses the surroundings to offer greetings and usage suggestions. Deep learning allows the system to better understand the owner's preferences over time, such as automatically announcing the day's schedule and weather forecast when entering the car in the morning.

Yamaha Audio System

As a long-term partner, Yamaha is the designated audio brand for the entire Zeekr lineup. The X is equipped with 13 speakers, the 7X with 21 speakers, and the flagship 009 with 31 speakers. The 7X features the latest ZEEKR Sound Pro system, while the 009 offers a 7.1.4 channel system with Dolby Atmos support, including 8 speakers embedded in the headrests to provide the most intimate sound experience.

Zeekr offers a factory warranty of 4 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) starting from the date of vehicle registration. The high-voltage battery warranty is 8 years or 200,000 km (whichever comes first).

Every Zeekr vehicle requires a maintenance service every 12 months or 20,000 km (whichever comes first). Official Zeekr maintenance service fees start from HK$3,000. It should be noted that the manufacturer states that vehicles with an accumulated mileage of over 20,000 km may require additional inspections. The basic service time is two working days, so owners should set aside sufficient time.

If you are planning to purchase insurance for a Zeekr, the X and 7X are SUV models with premiums similar to standard private cars. However, it is important to note that Zeekr electric vehicles are equipped with sensors all around the body. Even a minor collision can result in higher repair costs compared to traditional petrol cars; therefore, purchasing comprehensive insurance (Full Cover) is highly recommended for better security.

Additionally, as long as the policyholder meets the age and driving experience requirements, possesses a good driving record, and has a No Claims Discount (NCD), premiums for the X and 7X are generally quite friendly. However, because the 7X Platinum offers significantly stronger performance, insurance companies may classify it as a "high-performance vehicle." If the driver is young or has a short driving history, the premiums may be higher.

Regarding the 009, many owners may employ professional drivers. When purchasing insurance, pay close attention to the "Any Driver" or "Named Driver" clauses in the policy, particularly regarding the deductibles (excess). Furthermore, as the 009 is a high-end luxury model with extensive configurations and interior equipment, repair times may be longer. It is advisable to check for "Courtesy Car / Loss of Use" compensation clauses in your policy.

Are insurance premiums for emerging Chinese EV brands more expensive?

Since Chinese EV brands have been on the Hong Kong market for a relatively short time, insurance companies have limited data regarding their driving history, accident rates, repair data, and parts costs. Consequently, the perceived risk is higher than that of traditional petrol cars, which naturally leads to higher premiums.

Comprehensive EV Insurance

There are differences between comprehensive insurance for EVs and petrol cars, not only in premiums but also in coverage. In addition to standard benefits like "own damage," "new-for-old" replacement, and 24-hour free towing, EV-specific comprehensive insurance often includes special protection for private EV chargers, replacement of chargers, and full coverage for internal electrical and electronic components.

In terms of premiums, they depend on various factors such as the policyholder/driver's age, driving experience, occupation, past driving record, and NCD. For example, for a 46-year-old office worker with 5 years of driving experience and 0% NCD, the comprehensive insurance premium for a Zeekr 7X is approximately HK$9,800.
