Targeting the compact hatchback market, the BYD DOLPHIN offers Bluetooth key and NFC capabilities. The former allows drivers to unlock and start the car without a physical key via a smartphone equipped with the dedicated BYD app (linked with the vehicle's details), while the NFC function unlocks the car simply by tapping the phone against the wing mirror.

In addition, the BYD DOLPHIN features a smart power-on/off function: unlocking the car automatically starts the vehicle, and locking it turns it off, enhancing daily convenience. Furthermore, BYD has replaced the DOLPHIN’s conventional 12V auxiliary battery with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, boasting a lifespan of 10 years or more and saving owners the hassle of regular replacements.

The ATTO 1 is BYD's newest and most compact model in Hong Kong, positioned to succeed the Dolphin. Measuring just 3,925 mm in length—substantially shorter than the Dolphin's 4,290 mm—it makes parking and judging distances far easier, while a minimum turning radius of just 4.95 m allows for effortless three-point (or single-maneuver) U-turns. Despite its compact dimensions and a wheelbase of only 2,500 mm, rear passenger room remains largely uncompromised, offering ample comfort for adult passengers without feeling overly cramped.

Small as it is, the ATTO 1 comes generously equipped. It features power-adjustable front seats, a digital key, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, a 360-degree camera system, dual-zone climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay, leaving virtually nothing out. In terms of battery and performance, it is fitted with a 38.88 kWh battery pack delivering an NEDC range of 380 km, alongside an output of 55 kW of power and 155 Nm of torque.

Measuring 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, the BYD ATTO 2 adopts an urban SUV profile that is well suited to drivers in Hong Kong. The cabin is thoroughly equipped—a quick glance reveals a 12.8-inch rotating central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera system. Furthermore, the ATTO 2 supports the mobile app and NFC key features; with the latter, drivers can unlock the vehicle simply by bringing an NFC-enabled smartphone close to the side mirror.

In terms of performance, the ATTO 2 outputs 130 kW of power. While that figure may not seem exceptional on paper, its 290 Nm of torque paired with a curb weight of only around 1,650 kg ensures decent acceleration thanks to the manageable load. Additionally, BYD emphasizes that the ATTO 2 utilizes Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration technology, with high-strength steel accounting for 80.2% of the body structure, simultaneously enhancing body rigidity and interior cabin space.

Although the BYD ATTO 3 has been on sale in Hong Kong for several years, frequent updates have kept it feeling fresh. The 2026 edition of the ATTO 3 showcases a newly styled front fascia, along with full-width taillights featuring an integrated "Chinese knot" motif. In addition, dual brake lights have been incorporated into the rear spoiler, and the rear lower diffuser has also been completely redesigned.

Inside the cabin, a new grey interior colorway is now available for buyers. The door pocket "guitar strings" have also transitioned from red to black, and the steering wheel adopts the same four-spoke design found in the ATTO 2. Other updates include an enlarged digital instrument cluster that has grown from 5 inches to 8.8 inches, a shift from a center-console gear lever to a steering-column stalk, and the addition of a 50W wireless charging pad where the previous shifter console was located.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle remains identical to its predecessor: measuring 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase providing a generous sense of space, alongside a 470 L boot capacity.

Presented as a sleek four-door sedan, the BYD SEAL adopts innovative Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, embedding the Blade Battery directly into the chassis structure to create a "sandwich" architecture that boosts body rigidity. Among the trims, the AWD Performance edition draws power from a 160 kW front motor and a 260 kW rear motor, generating 670 Nm of torque and sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The AWD model also features red brake calipers, newly styled wheels, and the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system, enhancing handling and stability.

Furthermore, the entire SEAL lineup includes an electric panoramic sunroof shade, an overhead sunglass case, and a smart power-on/off feature that powers the car on upon unlocking and shuts it down upon locking. Other standard features are identical across trims, including ventilated and heated power front seats, a 15.6-inch central infotainment display supporting Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, and wireless smartphone charging.

Although it is also a four-door sedan like the SEAL, the SEAL 6 belongs to the "Qin" series rather than the SEAL’s "Ocean" series. Aesthetically, the SEAL 6 features the signature "Dragon Face" design aesthetic seen on the ATTO 3, with inverted-V air intakes at the front and a grey central trim on the front grille.

In terms of dimensions, the SEAL 6 measures 4,720 mm in length—slightly shorter than the SEAL's 4,800 mm—with a wheelbase that is also 100 mm shorter. However, the SEAL 6 excels in cargo capacity, offering a 460-liter rear boot complemented by a 65-liter front trunk (frunk), greatly enhancing practical utility.

The SEAL 6 is available in Essential and Premium versions. Aside from differences in performance, battery capacity, and range, the Premium trim offers superior amenities, such as an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, front seat ventilation, 18-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof.

Targeted as a mid-size 5-seater SUV, the BYD SEALION 7 has earned immense popularity among drivers. Beyond its striking looks, its generous standard equipment gives it outstanding value for money. Highlights include Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated electric front seats, a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera system, a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 12-channel Dynaudio sound system, and a smart power-on/off feature that starts the car instantly upon unlocking and shuts it down upon locking.

To cater to varying driver requirements, the SEALION 7 comes in 3 variants: Standard RWD, Extended Range Premium RWD, and AWD Performance. The Standard RWD version is equipped with a 71.8 kWh battery, generating 170 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque, delivering an NEDC range of 520 km.

The Extended Range Premium RWD and AWD Performance variants both feature an 82.56 kWh battery, producing 230 kW and 390 kW of power, and 380 Nm and 690 Nm of torque, respectively. For pure performance, the AWD Performance model is the top pick, completing the 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds—ideal for those seeking an exhilarating drive.

The BYD M6 features a closed front grille and multi-cluster LED headlights with daytime running lights, paired with 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, creating a more streamlined profile than conventional boxy MPVs.

The M6 is available in 7-seat (2+3+2) and 6-seat (2+2+2) configurations, which are entirely identical apart from the second-row seating arrangement. In light of the phase-out of EV "One-for-One Replacement Scheme" tax concessions, many automakers are introducing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to attract drivers with ultra-low fuel consumption and exceptionally low running costs. The primary advantage of a PHEV is its ability to utilize an engine for propulsion while also offering pure electric driving. Equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery, the SEALION 6 DM-i delivers a pure electric range of 80 km; even if not plugged in to recharge, the engine will automatically recharge the battery. Of course, the engine's role is not limited to power generation—whenever the system detects additional power demand, it seamlessly steps in to deliver drive or works tandem with the electric motor for continuous power output. BYD claims that on a full tank of fuel and a full battery charge, the combined range reaches 1,180 km.

Priced under HKD $300,000, the SEALION 6 DM-i is also comprehensively equipped with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, heated and ventilated front seats, NFC key access, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality, dual wireless phone charging pads, and a 10-speaker Infinity sound system.

As the latest addition to the luxury 7-seater MPV segment favored by Hong Kong motorists, the BYD M9 DM-i is packed with upscale amenities: a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, BYD digital key, 128-color ambient lighting, an onboard refrigerator, dual concealed tray tables, and dual sunroofs. Most notable are the two independent captain's chairs in the middle row, featuring memory settings, ventilation, and massage functions, all operated via armrest controls. Another luxurious touch is a 15.6-inch ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen paired with a 12-channel audio system, ensuring long-distance journeys are never dull.

Under the hood, it shares the plug-in hybrid architecture with the SEALION 6 DM-i and is offered in Advanced and Premium variants. Both feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 110 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque, paired with an electric motor outputting 200 kW and 315 Nm of torque.

While both variants share the same performance output, their battery specifications differ: the Advanced version comes with a 20.3 kWh battery for an 80 km pure electric range, while the Premium version packs a 36.6 kWh battery delivering up to 145 km. In addition, the Premium version comes standard with BYD's high-end DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system, offering an exceptionally comfortable ride.

Blade Battery

Proprietary lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology developed by BYD, in which battery cells are arranged in long, flat, blade-like strips. Its primary benefits include significantly improved space utilization and structural rigidity. In terms of safety, it passes the rigorous nail penetration test without catching fire or exploding. Furthermore, the Blade Battery features a long cycle life and superior thermal dissipation, dramatically mitigating the risk of thermal runaway.  

DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System

Calculates data from speed sensors and vehicle dynamics to automatically adjust the damping stiffness of electronically controlled shock absorbers. On smooth roads or gravel surfaces, it softens the dampers to filter out vibrations and elevate ride comfort. During hard braking, rapid acceleration, or aggressive cornering, it firms up the suspension to suppress pitch and body roll, achieving an optimal balance between comfort and handling stability.  

Cell-to-Body (CTB) Integration

Integrates the upper cover of the Blade Battery pack directly with the vehicle body floor, turning the battery into an integral load-bearing structural component. This drastically boosts the vehicle’s torsional rigidity while reducing chassis thickness to free up more cabin room.  

DM-i Super Hybrid System

An electric-centric plug-in hybrid architecture consisting of a high-thermal-efficiency dedicated engine paired with an EHS electric hybrid system. During urban driving, the vehicle runs purely on electricity or utilizes the engine as a generator; during high-speed cruising, the engine engages directly to drive the wheels. Regarding warranty coverage, the BYD vehicle line includes a 6-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty. The battery comes with a lifetime warranty, provided the annual mileage remains below 30,000 km; if the designated mileage is exceeded, the battery warranty defaults to 8 years or 160,000 km. Drive motor and electronic control components (including powertrain, motor, motor controller drive, motor controller and DC assembly, and high-voltage electronic control assembly) carry an 8-year or 150,000 km warranty.  

Warranty for Other Components:

All exterior lighting, tire pressure monitoring sensors, suspension components, and ball joints are covered for 4 years or 100,000 km.

Multimedia systems, shock absorbers, dust boots/covers, bushings, wheel bearings, PM2.5 sensors, AC/DC charging port assemblies, and USB charging connectors are covered for 3 years or 60,000 km.

BYD offers an extensive range of vehicles priced from just over a hundred thousand to hundreds of thousands of Hong Kong dollars. For new car owners, taking out Comprehensive Insurance is strongly recommended for full coverage, such as "new-for-old" vehicle replacement coverage. Moreover, BYD models are equipped with numerous sensors and cameras—high-end trims even feature the DiSus intelligent damping suspension—meaning repair expenses could be substantial even in a minor collision.

Additionally, maintaining a clean driving record and accumulating a No-Claim Discount (NCD) can significantly reduce premium costs.  

Is Insurance More Expensive for Domestic Chinese EVs?

Because domestic Chinese EVs have a comparatively shorter market history in Hong Kong, insurers possess less historical data regarding driving habits, accident rates, maintenance records, and spare part costs. Consequently, perceived underwriting risks are higher compared to conventional petrol vehicles, resulting in higher premiums.

Comprehensive EV insurance differs from conventional petrol car insurance not only in premiums but also in scope of coverage. Beyond standard comprehensive coverages such as own vehicle damage, new-for-old replacement, and 24-hour complimentary towing, EV policies specifically include coverage for accidental damage to private home chargers, charger replacement, and extensive protection for internal electrical and electronic components.

Premiums depend on a combination of factors including policyholder/driver age, driving experience, occupation, claims history, and No-Claim Discount. For example, for a 36-year-old clerical worker with 5 years of driving experience and 0% NCD, comprehensive insurance for a 2026 SEALION 7 AWD costs approximately HK$14,400.
